Anthony Luvera – Researcher in Residence 2025-2026

As the 2025–2026 Researcher in Residence, Anthony Luvera will further his exploration into the ethics of socially engaged photography.

Anthony’s practice is rooted in long-term collaboration, dialogue, trust, and co-creation. Addressing issues such as homelessness, housing injustice and queer representation, his work cultivates inclusive platforms through which individuals and communities can share their stories on their own terms.

As the first Researcher in Residence, Anthony will explore how the Photography Ethics Centre’s resources can inform and extend critical reflection within socially engaged photography, using the Centre’s toolkits, case studies, and ethical frameworks as starting points for a structured programme of inquiry into the ethics of collaboration and the politics of representation.

Anthony's approach to the residency will centre on research, reflection, and dialogue, drawing on the Photography Ethics Centre's resources as both foundation and framework. It will unfold in three phases: first, mapping the Centre’s resources to identify key ethical themes; second, holding collaborative exchanges with researchers and practitioners from diverse fields; and finally, producing reflective outputs that spark further discussion and help shape practices in socially engaged photography.
